Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

These terms govern your use of Trainer Field Guide. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms. We have written them to be straightforward. Every section with legal language includes a plain-language explanation.

1. Who These Terms Apply To

These terms apply to all users of Trainer Field Guide, including visitors who browse without an account and registered users who have created an account.

Trainer Field Guide is operated by Brown Hammer Studios.

What does this mean?

If you use this site at all — even just to look things up — these terms apply to you.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or have verified parental or guardian consent if you are under 13. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement or that a parent or guardian has provided consent on your behalf.

What does this mean?

You need to be 13 or older to sign up. If you are younger, a parent needs to approve your account first.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your login credentials secure
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Choosing a username that does not impersonate another person, use offensive language, or violate these terms

You must notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised. Contact us here.

What does this mean?

Keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens on your account. If something goes wrong, let us know right away.

4. Acceptable Use

You may use Trainer Field Guide to browse Pokémon data, track your collection, and connect with other trainers.

You may not:

  • Harass, threaten, impersonate, or harm other users
  • Upload content that is offensive, explicit, or inappropriate
  • Attempt to circumvent age verification, parental consent mechanisms, or account restrictions
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access the platform without prior written permission
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform
  • Use the platform for any commercial purpose without prior written permission

What does this mean?

Use the site to have fun and be a good member of the community. Do not be abusive, do not cheat the system, and do not try to scrape or automate access to the platform.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of content you upload to the platform, including profile pictures and bio text.

By uploading content, you grant Trainer Field Guide a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content on the platform for as long as your account is active or until you remove the content.

You are responsible for ensuring that content you upload:

  • Does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party
  • Does not contain offensive, explicit, or harmful material
  • Does not include the personal information of others without their consent

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms or our community standards, without prior notice.

What does this mean?

You own whatever you upload. By uploading it, you give us permission to show it on the site. If your content breaks the rules — like an inappropriate profile picture — we can remove it without warning.

6. Reporting and Moderation

Users may report usernames and profile pictures that violate community standards. Reports are reviewed and actioned according to our moderation policy. Abuse of the reporting system — including filing false reports to target specific users — may result in account suspension.

What does this mean?

If you see something wrong, report it. But do not abuse the report system to harass other users — that is a rule violation too.

7. Account Suspension and Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page.

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate accounts that:

  • Violate these terms
  • Engage in abusive behaviour toward other users
  • Attempt to circumvent platform restrictions
  • Are found to be operating automated or bot activity

In serious cases, termination may occur without prior notice.

What does this mean?

You can leave whenever you want. We can also remove accounts that break the rules — and in serious cases we will do so immediately without warning.

8. Intellectual Property Notice

Trainer Field Guide is not affiliated with, authorised, or endorsed by The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, Creatures, or Nintendo. All Pokémon names, images, and related media are trademarks of their respective owners.

Pokémon data is sourced from PokéAPI, a community-maintained open source project. The Trainer Field Guide platform design, code, and original content are the property of Brown Hammer Studios.

What does this mean?

We are a fan site. We do not own Pokémon — Nintendo and The Pokémon Company do. We just built the tool. Our original work (the site design, code, and any original writing) belongs to us.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

Trainer Field Guide is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We make no warranties about the accuracy or completeness of Pokémon data sourced from third-party APIs.

What does this mean?

We do our best to keep the site running and the data accurate, but we cannot guarantee it will always be perfect. Use it as a helpful reference, not as a source of absolute truth.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Brown Hammer Studios shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the platform, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

What does this mean?

If something goes wrong while using the site — like data being temporarily unavailable — we are not legally responsible for any losses that result. This is standard language for any free web platform.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

What does this mean?

If we change the rules, we will email you about it. If you keep using the site after that, it means you agree to the new terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

What does this mean?

If there were ever a legal dispute, it would be handled under Virginia state law.
